Standard workflow for creating a custom BOM style |
Scroll |
1.Before creating a new BOM style, you need to consider all its settings carefully.
1.1. What will be the sheet of the new BOM? What tables are required to enter the BOM items and fill in its title block?
1.2. What are the sections and subsections? What properties should each section have (sorting and numbering of items, etc.)?
1.3. What columns will be required?
1.4. What type of data will be filled in the columns in each section? In which sections the columns should not be filled?
1.5. What additional columns are required in the BOM? What kind of data will be filled in these columns? Will you need to sum up the values in them?
1.6. Do you need the calculation of reference numbers and zones?
1.7. Will it be a group BOM?
1.8. Will you need to create version items in the BOM?
Fig. 1.9. Does the BOM require the blocks of additional sections? If so, which blocks are needed and which sections should be included in each of the blocks?
1.10. Do any sections of the BOM require nested section blocks? If so, which blocks are needed and which sections should be included in each of the blocks?
1.11. Which existing fill templates can be used in different sections? Inquire about the attribute type key combinations that match these templates.
2.If the title block required to create a BOM does not exist, create it. You can use a similar title block as a prototype.
The title block components should include a table for the input of BOM items. For this table the Use for BOM option shall be enabled. The header of this table may contain column names. The remaining cells of this table must be empty. In the advanced settings choose the For BOM table, type, nature of the entered data and specify the table row number.
3.Create a detailing containing the title blocks (forms) for the first and subsequent sheets of the BOM.
4.If any fill templates are missing, create the required patterns (see section Creating custom fill templates). Try to use prototype templates.
5.To create a new style, call the Settings – Style libraries – BOM styles... command. In the dialog that appears, select the library in which the new style will be created, and click Create.
The BOM Style dialog appears on the screen. All the parameters of the BOM style will be configured in it.
6.In the BOM section, enter the style name and style number in the library; configure the general parameters.
7.In the Detailing section, select the detailing for the first and subsequent sheets of the BOM.
8.In Graphs section, click on the Fetch data from formatting link and configure the parameters for each graph.
9.In the Additionally (graphs outside the table) section, create a list of additional graphs and set them up.
10.In the Sections section, create a list of sections and set them up. Specify the rules for entering and sorting items in each section and the rules for filling columns in it.
11.If necessary, on the Variations tab, set up the rules for entering and displaying information about the versions.
12.If necessary, on the Additional sections blocks tab enable the use of blocks of additional sections and set them.
13.Test the new BOM style: create a BOM with a new style, fill in its sections, check the link with the attached document, additional columns filling, sorting, positioning, other parameters and settings.
14.If required, correct the BOM style settings and test the new style again.

Be sure to check the new style of the BOM — in the future this will avoid many errors when generating BOMs with this style. |
