The text editor is a constituent of the system KOMPAS-3D. The main area of its application – development of various text-and-graphic documentation. Documents can be laid out in compliance with standards or have an arbitrary form.
In creating documents it is possible to use any fonts available in Windows – both vector and TrueType.
The KOMPAS-3D system delivery set includes TrueType fonts, whose design conforms to GOST 2.304-81 ESKD. Drawing fonts:
•GOST type A (font file name — gost_a.ttf),
•GOST type B (font file name – gost_b.ttf),
•GOST type AU (Unicode, font file name — gost_au.ttf),
•GOST type BU (Unicode, font file name — gost_bu.ttf),
Besides, the distribution package includes True Type fonts containing special symbols:
•Symbol type A (font file name — symbol_a.ttf),
•Symbol type B (font file name – symbol_b.ttf).
The delivery set also includes vector fonts (containing the same symbols as the True Type fonts):
•GOST type A (potter) (font file name – gost_a.fon),
•GOST type B (potter) (font file name – gost_b.fon),
•Symbol type A (font file name — symbol_a.fon),
•Symbol type B (font file name — symbol_b.fon).
Main features of the text editor:
•setting up font and paragraph parameters,
•working with text styles (using ready and designing your own),
•automated entry of frequently occurring text fragments (text templates),
•insertion of special designations and symbols (geometric tolerances, maximum deviations, designations of welded joints, etc.) from the system library,
•insertion of formulas, fractions, sub/superscripts,
•creation of lists of various nesting levels,
•creation of arbitrary tables,
•output of created documents to the plotter and printer,
•spell check of texts in various languages.
Users having some working experience with the popular text editor MS Word for Windows (or other word processor for this operating system), will find many familiar features for text processing in KOMPAS-3D and will be able to master the system without difficulty.
The word processor is used for input and processing of the text-and-graphic information in the following modes:
•creation of technical specifications, filling of the title block on drawings,
•creation of various captions and tables (including those which are part of dimensions and designations) in drawings and fragments,
•creation of separate text and text-graphic documents,
•creation of tables of title blocks of drawings, BOMs, and text documents.
Each of these modes has some distinctions in the interface and in a set of available commands. In general, working methods and the principles for setting parameters in all the modes are identical.
Further, during description of this or other option of the word-processor, the differences (if any) will be stipulated in its use in various operating modes.
Commands of the word processor can be fetched using the Main menu, toolbars, and the Parameters toolbar. For most commands, all the three methods of running them are available.
