General information about configuration |

Kit is a set of components assembled to solve a specific range of tasks. A kit includes the following components:
•KOMPAS modules,
•KOMPAS add-ons,
•KOMPAS libraries,
•utilities,
•specialized applications integrated with KOMPAS-3D.
Kit configuration (hereinafter: configuration) is data about the components of the kit and their status. Configurations are stored in files with the extension kit.config.

KOMPAS module |
KOMPAS software components: •KOMPAS-Graphic is a graphic document editor (this module also includes functionality for working with text documents and BOMs), •KOMPAS-3D — model editor. |

KOMPAS add-on |
A piece of software that complements the functionality of KOMPAS-3D and operates in its environment. All KOMPAS-3D interactive functionality (creating and editing documents and individual objects in the documents) can be used from applications through language tools. Example of an add-on: Service Tools. |
Information about the add-ons included into the kit and requisite data to run these add-ons, as well as the autorun setting (whether or not the add-on is automatically started at the startup of KOMPAS-3D). |

KOMPAS library of elements |
A set of elements to insert into KOMPAS documents. Elements are: fragments, parts, bitmaps, table templates, standard texts. Example of a library of elements: library of shapes and symbols. |
Information about the libraries included into the kit and requisite data to run these libraries. |

Utility |
A piece of software to complete a specific task of the kit. You can run utilities from KOMPAS-3D or in standalone mode. Example of an utility: Calculator. |
Information about built-in utilities in the kit, •prerequisite data to run the utility (usually a full name of the executable file), •command line parameters (optional), •name (optional), •description/comment (optional). |
