Under restoration of surface in this case is understood the recreation of an integral surface from its part. A face of a solid or a surface may be used for that.

Surface restoration may be required, for example, when designing the equipment for obtaining the model surfaces without cuts and/or clippings. Examples of surface creating by restoration can be found in the figure.

Examples of surface creating by restoration

a) source face, b) phantom of the restored surface, c) result of restoration

The surface obtained by restoration is the new model object. It is plotted on the theoretical surface with the selected face as the portion. The specified face remains unchanged in the model.

The restored surface is associated to the original face. If the theoretical surface of the original face changes, then the restored surface will change too.

Later you can perform the same operations with the restored surface as with any other surfaces. For example, you can change the scale and position of the surface or apply editing operations (trimming, splitting, etc.).
