What is the detailing? |
Scroll |
Detailing is a part of the drawing or text document in KOMPAS-3D, containing the title block and the frames (external and internal). The detailing of the text document also contains information about the size of the text input field, and the drawing detailing contains information about the presence of the change table and the rules for placing it on the sheet.
The use of detailing types greatly facilitates the creation of standard documents – it is not necessary to draw a frame and a title block table each time, since they are already contained in the detailing assigned to the document.
KOMPAS-3D includes the standard detailings for engineering documents. These detailing types are stored in the system detailing library – the Graphic.lyt file, located in the \\Sys subfolder of the main system folder.

The package also includes the Vector.lyt file. It contains detailing types for documents printed on vector devices. Some libraries, for example, the library of SPDS-designations, require special detailing, different from the system. These detailing types are included in the library delivery packages. When these libraries are installed, the corresponding detailing libraries are placed in \Sys subfolder. |
You can edit the existing detailing types and create your own ones. It is also possible to create custom detailing libraries. Both new detailing types and existing ones, i.e. copy detailing types between libraries.
Title block is an integral part of document formatting, which includes one or several tables, with cells specially configured. Thanks to these settings, some service functions become available (automatic data entry, data transfer from one cell to another, etc.).
Since the title blocks are parts of the detailing types, they are stored in the same *.lyt libraries as detailing types. In this case, the title blocks are created and edited as separate objects. The detailing contained in any *.lyt library, may include a title block located only in the same library.
