Printing an area of the sheet

Scroll

You can print out an entire document sheet or a selected area (a rectangle of an arbitrary size).

To select printing options, use the Method of Output group of buttons on the Parameter panel.

The Full Sheet button allows you to print the selected document sheet entirely. This sheet is completely displayed in the print field.

The Set Area button allows you to print the selected area of the document sheet. Only the selected area is displayed in the print field.

Print area selection mode

To set the print areas of the document sheets, use the Printed sheet area selection mode command.

In the print area selection mode, the command button is displayed on the blue background on the toolbar panel.

After you run this command, the Method of area selection group of buttons and the print area control fields for the current sheet appear on the Parameter panel. You can determine the position and the size of the print area by entering values into these fields. The set of the fields depends on the way of selecting the print area.

There are two possible methods to select a print area. To choose the required method, press the corresponding button in the Method of area selection group:

Sizes and position — allows you to set the sizes and position of the area,

Indentations from the page edge — allows you to specify the indentation of the area borders from the edge of the sheet.

By default, the frame around the print area corresponds to the dimensions of the sheet. To change the size and the position of the frame, please enter the required values into the print area control fields (you can enter numeric values or expressions to calculate the values). You can also drag the sides and the corners of the frame, as well as drag the entire frame using your mouse. If you do that, the values in the fields will change automatically.

If the document contains several sheets, you can set the print area for each sheet without interrupting this command. To activate a sheet, click it or select it in the Sheet list on the Parameter panel. You can press <Tab> to navigate between sheets.

The entire current sheet is displayed in the print field. For the remaining sheets, only areas to be printed are displayed.

To complete the print area setup, run the Printed sheet area selection mode command again or press the <Esc> key.

After you do that, the print field will only contain the selected print areas, and in the Output Method group of buttons on the Parameter Toolbar, the Specified Area button will be pressed. If necessary, you can change the output method for each sheet.

On one sheet, you can select only one print area.

If you need to print several areas of the same sheet, please do the following:

create the required number of copies of the sheet; to do that, drag the sheet while holding the <Ctrl> key,

run the Printed sheet area selection mode command,

set the areas to print on the new copies of the sheet.

If you select an area of a sheet to be printed (rather than the entire sheet), you can move this area, rotate it in the print field or scale it up or down the same way as you would do with the entire sheet.

When working with graphic documents, you can set the print area before entering the preview mode. To do that, zoom in the image so that only the portion to be printed would be displayed on the screen.
