The BOM in KOMPAS-3D is stored in a file with the extension spw.

BOM style

The appearance and specifics of filling the BOM depend on its style. The delivery set of KOMPAS-3D includes styles developed in accordance with GOST R 2.106–2019, 2.113–75, and others.

Some of the parameters defined by the style can be changed directly in the BOM. For example, the user can turn on the bottom up filling of BOMs if required.

The features mentioned later in this section correspond to the default setting of the most commonly used styles of BOM.

The user can edit the existing styles of BOMs and create own styles (see section Creating a custom BOM style).

BOM object

The newly created BOM will be empty. To fill it, you need to create BOM items in it.

BOM object in KOMPAS-3D is a row or several consecutive BOM rows that are related to the same material object. More about the item of BOM...

BOM items are sorted and renumbered automatically, so they can be entered in arbitrary order. The sorting rules are determined by the BOM style.

Links between BOMs and other documents

The BOM in KOMPAS-3D can be linked or not linked to other KOMPAS-documents (assemblies, drawings, parts).

If the BOM is not linked to other documents, then the creation of BOM items and data entry into BOMs need to be performed manually. Modification of data, if required, is also done manually by editing BOM items.

If the BOM is linked to other documents, then the main array of items in the BOM is generated automatically – based on the information contained in these documents. Changes to this information are also transferred to the BOM automatically. Reference numbers are transferred in the reverse direction, i.e. from the BOM to the related documents. If the BOM is linked to other documents, you can create new objects manually – this does not affect the documents linked to it.
