Notes on transferring property changes between versions |
Scroll |
When editing properties of versions pay attention to the following notes on transferring changes to other versions.
Which version has been modified |
How changes are applied to other versions |
Property Name — base part |
Source |
The change is propagated to all versions of the model (both dependent and independent) that share the same base part of the designation. If the base part of the designation for an independent variant differs from that of the source version.e., if it has been edited—the change is not propagated to it. |
Dependent |
The change is propagated to its source version and to any dependent versions, if any—that is, to all versions located on the same branch of the Version Tree as the version being modified. If the source version to which the change is propagated is itself a dependent version, the change is propagated further up to its source version, and so on. |
Independent |
The change is propagated to any dependent builds, if any. |
Property Designation — Document Code |
Any |
The change is propagated to its dependent builds that have the same build ID. |
Property Name |
Source |
The change is propagated to all model versions (both dependent and independent) that have the same value for the Name property. If the values of the dependent and independent versions differ from the value of the main version—that is, if they have been edited—the change is not propagated to them. |
Dependent |
The change is not propagated to other versions. |
Independent |
The change is propagated to its dependent versions if their values match the value of the original version. |
•For properties Name, Material, Density, Mass (in case of manual input of the mass value), Material equivalent, Coating, Developed by, Checked by, Approved by, engineering control, compliance assesment, BOM section, and properties derived from variables, changes made to the properties of one version are transferred to all its dependent versions that have the same values of the corresponding properties. |
Any |
The change is propagated to its dependent instances, which have the same property value as the original instance. If the value of a dependent instance differs from the original—that is, if it has been edited—then the change is not propagated to it. |
Properties: Majority surface finish and Majority surface finish parameter |
Any |
The change is propagated to its dependent instances unless the link to the corresponding designation in the original instance has been removed to indicate an unspecified roughness. Learn more about removing and restoring links… |
Author and Organization properties |
Any |
The change applies to all versions of the model. |
Other properties |
This change does not apply to other versions. |
Changing the version number in the model designation does not affect other versions of the model. The change to the version number is only taken into account when new version numbers are generated automatically—the number of the newly created version will be the one immediately following the highest number in the list of versions.
The model may contain not only versions but also variants. Changes to the values of properties in the version are transferred to the variants created for it, as well as to the dependent versions. |
