Model in KOMPAS-3D |
Scroll |
You can create two types of models in KOMPAS-3D: a part and an assembly.
•Part is a model type designed to represent products manufactured without applying assembly operations. It is created and stored in a «part» document and has the m3d file extension.
•Assembly — A type of model designed to represent products manufactured using assembly operations. It is created and stored in the document «assembly», file extension — a3d.
A 3D model in KOMPAS-3D is composed of objects. Objects are divided into:
•geometric,
•layout elements,
•objects «measurement»,
•components.
Geometric objects include: solids, surfaces, curves, points, sketches, objects of construction geometry. Layout includes: dimensions, cosmetic threads, leader lines, surface finish designations, datums, positions, geometric and positional tolerances.
Component is an object of the model which in its turn is a model: a part or an assembly.
You can create and edit objects of the model executing the operations. When creating and editing an object, it is possible to form associativity with the other object. Associativity is a one-way dependence of the location or geometry of one object on the location of geometry of the other object. The dependent object is considered to be derived, and the object which a derived object is dependent on is considered to be source in relation to the derived one.
You can assign parameters to the whole model and its separate parts (solids, components) to calculate CMPs (material and its density) and set properties – information on the product which this model (a part of the model) represents.
Composition of the model, its building sequence and associations between objects of the model are displayed in the Design Tree.
