General information about editing model objects

Scroll

When editing a model, you can modify various parameters of its constituent objects: solids, surfaces, curves, and points created in the model; styling elements; technical requirements; implicit roughness; component insertion parameters; component properties; relationships between components; and so on.

You can change object parameters in two ways: start the object editing process (in this case, all object parameters are available for modification) or select an object and change some of its parameters. More about object editing modes...

When entering the object editing process, the operation used to create the object is launched. Changing parameters is performed in the same way as setting them. Features of changing parameters during object editing...

Without entering the editing mode, you can change object parameters that affect its display, as well as some others. Such editing is performed in the Parameter Panel when no command is running and the object to be edited is selected. More details...

You can control the values of an object’s numeric parameters by changing the values of the corresponding variables or operation dimensions.

Please note that in the current model, only objects that are directly located within it can be edited. Therefore, direct editing of objects belonging to model components is not possible. To edit a component’s objects, you must either open it in a separate window (see the section Procedure for editing a component in a separate tab) or enable the component’s context editing mode (see the section “Procedure for editing a component ‘in place’”). After that, you can use any object editing techniques.

During any editing of model objects, the hierarchical relationships between them are preserved; that is, after modifying any object, it is not necessary to redefine the construction sequence of its subordinate objects or their parameters.

In some cases, the model is rebuilt automatically. For example, after changing the shape of a contour in the sketch, the shape of the extrusion element based on it changes immediately. In other cases, such as when changing variable values, you must call a special command to rebuild the model; see the section Rebuilding the Model.

Changes made to the model during editing are propagated to all models that contain it as a component.
