What is the layout? |

Layout is a part of the drawing or text document in KOMPAS-3D, containing the title block and the frames (external and internal). The layout of the text document also contains information about the size of the text input field, and the drawing layout contains information about the presence of the change table and the rules for placing it on the sheet.
The use of layout types greatly facilitates the creation of standard documents – it is not necessary to draw a frame and a title block table each time, since they are already contained in the layout assigned to the document.
KOMPAS-3D includes the standard detailings for engineering documents. These layout types are stored in the system layout library – the Graphic.lyt file, located in the \\Sys subfolder of the main system folder.

The package also includes the Vector.lyt file. It contains layout types for documents printed on vector devices. Some libraries require special layout, different from the system. These layout types are included in the library delivery packages. When these libraries are installed, the corresponding layout libraries are placed in \Sys subfolder. |
You can edit the existing layout types and create your own ones. It is also possible to create custom layout libraries. Both new layout types and existing ones, i.e. copy layout types between libraries.
Title block is an integral part of document formatting, which includes one or several tables, with cells specially configured. Thanks to these settings, some service functions become available (automatic data entry, data transfer from one cell to another, etc.).
Since the title blocks are parts of the layout types, they are stored in the same *.lyt libraries as layout types. In this case, the title blocks are created and edited as separate objects. The layout contained in any *.lyt library, may include a title block located only in the same library.
