Notes on working with curves, having subordinate curve objects |
Scroll |
Curves created by certain commands—such as the Outline, Projected Curve, Folded Curve, and Isoparametric Curve Group commands — consist of subordinate curve objects.
In most cases, child curve objects are contours resulting from a construction. Some curves have a different set of child objects. For example, the child objects of a fillet curve are the resulting curve and truncated copies of the original curves.
A child curve object is not always a separate contour within a curve. For example, in a fillet curve, the child objects
Rounding and
Trimmed curve form a single contour. A single contour can also be formed by the child objects of a group of isoparametric curves, for example, if all curves in the group are located on the boundaries of a face, etc.
The visibility of a curve’s child objects can be controlled. To do this, use the Visible icons in the Design Tree
/Hide
and commands Hide/Show in the context menu. If all child objects are hidden, the curve containing them is also hidden. More about controlling the visibility of individual objects...
You can also control whether child objects of certain curves are included in the calculation, such as the outline line, projection curve, intersection curve, etc. To exclude an object from the calculation or include it again, click the Included in calculation
/Excluded from the calculation
or select the corresponding command from the context menu. Learn more about managing the "included in calculation" status of individual objects...

Subordinate objects of a fillet curve and groups of isoparametric curves cannot be excluded from the calculation individually. If the "Exclude from Calculation" command is executed for a subordinate object, the entire curve is excluded from the calculation. |
Using curves in operations
Curves with child curve objects can be used to construct solids and surfaces using various operations. You can choose to construct the entire curve or only some of its constituent segments.
Features of specifying curves with child curve objects:
•An entire curve or its child object is specified in the Design Tree. When specified in the graphics area, a segment of the corresponding child object is selected, or the entire child object if a segment cannot be specified.
•In some operations, you can't use a curve with multiple separate contours. When attempting to specify such a curve as a whole, the following occurs (depending on the type of operation):
•Selection of the entire curve is not available,
•the entire curve is selected, but you can't confirm the operation,
•The entire curve is selected and the operation can be confirmed, but building is only performed for the first contour of the curve (e.g., in operations). trimming a curve and Equidistant to curve).
Further work with the model may change the set of subordinate curve objects and the objects themselves. In this case, the result of the operation using the curve will change as well.
