Retrieving property BOMs from a linked document |

If a document is attached to the BOM and the retrieval of properties from that document is enabled, i.e., during the process Managing connected documents 
the button Get properties from document 
was pressed, the properties of that document are transferred to the BOM. As long as the button remains pressed, a link is maintained between the BOM and the document: changes to the document's properties are transferred to the BOM.
The list of system properties transferred to the BOM from the document is the same as the model properties in the associative drawing. Properties from external libraries and their values are transferred to the BOM without exception.
Properties are passed to the BOM if their values are specified in the document. The passed properties become properties of the BOM and are used to populate the main caption.
You can view the list of properties in the Parameters Panel by selecting the Document Properties command. If a BOM retrieves properties from a document, the list of properties includes a Source column. The options in the Source column enable or disable the transfer of individual property values. If an option is enabled, the property value is transferred from the document and updated when it changes in that document. If an option is disabled, the property value is not transferred from the document and, therefore, is not updated.
When editing a property value in the BOM that is passed from the document, the option in that property’s row is disabled. You can re-enable the option later.
If, at the moment the Get properties from document button is clicked, the values of any properties have been specified in the specification—for example, Designation and Name—then their values are not transferred to the BOM. The options in the Source column for these properties are disabled. If you need to transfer property values from the document, you must enable the options in the rows for these properties.

The values of some properties may not be specified in the document at the time they are transferred to the BOM. No options are displayed in the Source column for these properties. However, these properties are linked to the document, and if their values are specified there, they will be transferred to the BOM. |
In the process Get properties from document A list of all documents linked to the BOM is displayed. The document from which the BOM derives its properties is marked with an icon:
— if options are included in the column for all properties that can be passed to the BOM from the document Source,
— if the option is disabled for one or more properties.
