The styles of points, lines, hatches and texts stored directly in the software code are called system styles. The software also includes a line style library (Graphic.lcs) and a dash style library (Graphic.lhs).

Users can create custom styles of lines, hatches and texts. Creating custom styles of point is not possible.

New styles can be stored in various locations. For possible locations of styles and special notes on operation, see the table.

Document

Styles that are stored within the document file (embedded styles) accompany the documents when moved to other workstations. These styles belong to that document and are only available inside it. To use them in other documents, the styles must first be copied from the document to a set or library.

Library

Style libraries are external files relative to documents. Files of line style libraries have the lcsextension, hatch styles — lhs, text styles — lts.

If you move the documents that use library styles to other workstations, you also need to move the style libraries. You can use library styles when creating various documents. If you modify a library style, all the objects that use this style will be modified.

Set

A set is a named group of styles. Information about user created sets is stored in the *.cfg file (see section Configuration Files).

By default, the styles contained within sets are only available at the workstation where they have been created.

Set of styles have the following advantage over style libraries. If you use a set once, the software will remember it until the end of the session while you will have to address a library every time you need it. That is, repeated access to the styles stored in sets is easier than repeated access to library styles.

To move a set of styles from one workstation to another, you can move a *.cfg file. Please note that in addition to information about the sets, this file also contains the system settings of KOMPAS-3D.
