In the KOMPAS-3D system, additional capabilities for working with variables are provided — creation functional and interval variables. These variables are used for obtaining the values of parameters for creation of objects. For example, functional variables can be used when building curves by law, as well as in those cases when it is necessary to obtain function values at various argument values. A functional variable can also be used to calculate user variable values.

Functional and interval user variables are created in the main section and are automatically placed into special sections of the list of variables: functional ones – into the Functions section, the interval ones – into the Spacing section. These sections are located right after the main section.

The Functions section is created automatically after input of the name of the first functional variable, the Spacing section – of the first interval variable.

A description of the functional and interval variables is provided later in this section.

Use of functional variables in a curve by law

When constructing a curve according by law, functional and interval variables are created automatically when setting the functions of the coordinates of the curve points and the interval parameters of these functions. The created variables are not added into the Functions and Spacing sections of the Variables toolbar. They are placed into a section of variables of a curve by law.

If necessary, you can use the formerly created functional and interval variables while building a curve. Details...
