Interval variables – a variable of the form [a].

The name of an interval variable is enclosed into square brackets and may contain letters of the Latin alphabet (characters are case-sensitive), Arabic digits, and the underline symbols ("_"). The variable name length is no more than 512 symbols. The first symbol in the variable name is a square bracket, then – a character or an underline, and the last symbol – a square bracket. Examples of writing: [a], [b_1].

The value of an interval variable represents an interval of values, for example, [10.0;20.0].

To assign a value to the interval variable:

1.On the Variables toolbar find the line of the variable for which it is necessary to enter the range of values.

2.Click the Expression cell in this row.

3.Enter the required interval of values and press <Enter>. The set interval is enclosed into square brackets. The values limiting the interval are separated by the ";" character. As the boundary values of an interval, you can use:

numerical values, for example, [0.0;10.0], [10;-10],

constants (for the list of constants, see the table), for example, [0.0;M_PI],

expressions, for example, [a-b;a+b],

any variables, except interval variables, for example, [0.0;a], [a(10);a(20)].

When setting an interval of values, it is allowed that the second value be less than the first one.

After input of an interval of values into the Expression cell, the current interval of variable values is calculated. It is displayed in the Value cell and contains only numerical values.

If a set interval of values contains variables missing in the document, they are automatically created in the main section or in the Functions group (in case of using function variables). Set the values or expressions for these variables.
