Writing the components source into a new file

Scroll

If the model contains components that are inserts of the same model (such components form separate branches in the Design Tree) then you can save the source model of these components into a new file. To do this, select the necessary component branch – parts, assemblies, local parts – in the Design Tree and invoke the Save as... command from the context menu. A file saving dialog will appear on the screen.

Specify the save folder and file name and click Save. In this case, the source model of the components is written to the new file, and the components that originate from the resulting model file are automatically inserted into the current model instead of the previous components. The old components are removed from the model, but their file on the disk does not change.

Note that with this saving option the document type cannot be changed, i.e. an assembly can only be saved as an assembly, part can only be saved as part, and a local part can be saved either as an assembly or as a part, depending on its model type (part or assembly).

After batch saving of the local parts their icons in the current model Design Tree will change.

If the selected branch contains non-editable components then the Save as... Command will not be available.
