Simple and associative views

Scroll

The views of KOMPAS-3D are divided into simple and associative.

The simple view contains an arbitrary image built manually. This view is not related to the model. Its image can be edited directly in the drawing.

More details about simple views...

The associative view contains an automatically generated projection of the 3D model. This view is related to the model, so changes in the model result in change of image in it. As long as the associative view retains a link to the model, editing the geometrical objects constituting the projection of a model is impossible. If necessary, the link between the view and model can be destroyed. In this case, the view becomes simple.

One drawing may contain several associative views, including the views depicting different models.

More details about associative views...

Each view in a drawing has a frame.

All the objects being part of this view fall within the frame, i.e. when adding objects into a view, the size of a frame changes so that all the objects of a view were inside it.

The frame of an associative view is built around the model projection and does not change as new objects are created within a view, i.e. view objects obtained by means of projecting a model are fully inside the frame, whereas the objects of a view created manually may protrude outside its limits.

By default, the frame of a simple view is displayed as a solid gray line, whereas the frame of associative view – as a black dotted line. If necessary, you can set up the style of rendering the frames or disable their display (see section Views).
