Importing objects from model space and from sheet space |
Scroll |
The model space in AutoCAD contains information about the model. The model space may contain the 3D model of the product and its images (views, sections, etc.). It may also contain graphic objects and detailing objects: dimensions, texts, border, etc. However, usually the border, the title block, dimensions and other detailing objects (that is, all objects of the drawing except for those involved in the model itself) are located in the sheet space. All the content of the model space is also displayed in the sheet space using so called view ports. Usually the sheet space shows various segments of the model space, in different scale , if required.
Importing objects from model space
If you need to import information from the AutoCAD model space, please go to the Data page and enable the Read data from model space setting. A KOMPAS-3D fragment or drawing can only contain 2D image. Therefore, importing will result in getting a projection of the objects located in the model space.
Importing objects from sheet space
If you need to import information from the sheet space, please go to the Data page and enable the Read data from sheet space setting. The KOMPAS-3D document will acquire object from the sheet space: visible segments of the model space, border, title block, detailing objects and other graphic objects of the sheet space. If the source document contains several sheets, you can select individual sheets to import. When you select this option, a list of sheets will appear. Select the sheets you want to import. By default, the names of the sheets in the document contain the word "Detailing" and the serial number. You can rename the sheets when editing the imported document in AutoCAD.
To quickly enable or disable importing all sheets, use the All Sheets setting.
The View port borders by dimensions option can affect the import result if the view screens are not rectangular. If this setting is enabled, the shape of the view ports is simplified to rectangular. It may result in KOMPAS documents containing "extra" objects : these objects were not visible in the source document because they were located outside the view ports. With this option disabled, the shape of the view ports is not simplified, but it may take longer to process the document.
