Selecting a location for an imported image |

When importing from DXF or DWG, you can use one of the two options to store the acquired image:
•in the new document (this document is created during import),
•in the current document (this document should be previously created and opened by the user).
To select the placement of the acquired image, put the switch Read to file/Read to current view on the Files page in the required position.
Read to file
By default, when a file is imported, a new KOMPAS-3D fragment is created for the imported objects. This fragment is located in the same folder as the file being imported, and has the same name. For example, if you import the Reductor.dwg file located in the C:\Work folder, the system will automatically create the Reductor.frw file in the same folder.
To select another file for the import results, click the File link. In the dialog box that appears, select a previously created KOMPAS fragment and click the Save button — the system will create a fragment with the specified name. You can also enter the name of the new file in the field to the right of the link.
If you want the imported objects to be displayed on the screen when importing, please enable the Display on screen setting.
Read to current view
You can place the objects of the imported document in the fragment active during import or in the current view of the active drawing. If no graphic document is active in the main window of KOMPAS-3D, this position of the switch won't be available.
When importing to the active document, you can select where the imported objects should be placed:
•To Source Layers
When importing to source layers, the KOMPAS document will have the same number of layers as in the source file. The objects will be placed in the layers exactly as in the source file. In other words, all objects will be located in their own layers.
•To current layer
When importing to the current layer, all objects of the imported document will be placed in the current layer of the active document.
After the import is complete, you can review the list objects that could not have been imported, and see why there was a problem. To do that, please enable the Display report with reading results setting. These details will be displayed in the Information window. You can also save them in a text file (*.txt) or print them.
