To edit the content of an insertion, select the insertion and call the Edit Source command from the context menu. This command is not available for view insertions embedded in the document.

•If an external link insertion was made, a new tab will appear in KOMPAS-3D, on which the contents of the external source file - the drawing or fragment - will be displayed.

Edit the image in the fragment or in the source view of the insertion, then save the document.

After saving the source, close its tab and go back to the master document. All changes in the source file will be immediately propagated to all its insertions in the master document.

•If the fragment insertion was implemented in the document, then in KOMPAS-3D a new window will open, into which the set of insertion objects will be loaded. The fragment insertion editing mode will be enabled. The mode icon will appear in the graphic area of the document.

Modify the fragment objects as required.

To exit the editing mode, click the mode icon in the graphic area. A prompt to save the fragment changes in the master document will appear on the screen. You can confirm or cancel saving.

When the editing if the inserted fragment is done, the system switches back to the master document of the insertion. The modifications are not applied to the source file of the insertion.

You can access the contents of the insertion made by external reference without accessing the master document. You can open and edit the source file of this insertion in a usual way. In this case, the master document will be automatically updated at opening or, if it was already open, master document will be updated at activation. This way, source file and master document may not be opened and edited at the same time; however, they will be always in sync.
