As was already stated, the text style is a set of paragraph properties and font parameters. The text style fully determines its appearance.
Of course, it is possible to format each text paragraph separately, changing various parameters. But that is hardly reasonable during creation of large multipage text documents, with the requirements to the detailing known in advance. For such documents, it is most convenient to use a ready set of styles including styles of the regular document text, a table cell, a section heading, etc.
For drawings, specific text styles can be used (such as text on the drawing, text in dimensional captions, on the leader line landings, text in technical specifications, etc.).
The distribution package KOMPAS-3D includes ready (system) styles for creating text documents and for entering text and special designations on the drawing. Besides, you can create your own styles, using system styles as the prototype, if necessary.
Text styles can be stored:
•directly inside text documents (embedded styles),
•in style libraries (library styles),
•in style sets.
Each style library is stored in a separate file with the lts extension. Use of styles from libraries is possible if during the operation time there is access to the files of these libraries (including over the local area network).

The library styles used in creation of a text document are not saved in this document. Therefore, during transfer of a document to another work place or enterprise, it is necessary to transfer the required style libraries to another workplace or enterprise. |
Style sets are stored in the configuration file *.cfg. After use of a style from the set, it is copied into the document, i.e. becomes an embedded style.
Use of styles during creation and detailing of text documents and drawings offers a number of undoubted advantages over separate formatting, since it ensures:
•The consistency of detailing of all the documentation in strict compliance with the requirements of ESKD or other requirements (corporate standards, industry standards, etc.).
•Reduction of time spent for the execution of documentation.
•Reduction of time spent for correction of the detailing of whatever elements of documentation. For example, to change the font in all the headings it suffices to edit the style used in creation of these headings, but not to format each heading separately.
It is possible to set the so-called advanced text style in which text parameters (font height and width, line spacing) are determined additionally for the first three lines in a table cell.
The advanced text style is used mainly for the description of various cases of text entry into the columns of the main captions of the document (into table cells with fixed dimensions). At the same time, it is possible to specify what the text parameters will be like on entry of one, two, or three lines into the column. On entry of more than three lines into the graph, settings of the regular (not advanced) text style are used.
