The mass-centering characteristics of the model can be obtained entirely through calculations or partially entered manually.

In the former case the model's CMP will be calculated automatically based on the CMP of its constituent parts: solids and components.

In the latter case, the mass is specified by the user, and the coordinates of the center of gravity and/or the axial and centrifugal moments of inertia may also be specified.

The calculated or manually entered values of the mass, center of gravity coordinates, and moments of inertia of the model are stored in its file. If the model is inserted in an assembly as a component, these parameters will be transferred to the assembly and used for calculation of its center of mass properties.

Volumes of the solids are always calculated automatically by the system.

If required, you can set center of mass properties for the components different from their own properties in the assembly (see Examples). These parameters will be stored and used in the assembly containing the components. The component file will remain unchanged. If it is inserted in another assembly, you can either use the proper parameters of the component in it or set other parameters.

The CMP parameters can be configured for any component of the model such as part (incl. local parts), subassembly or library component. The CMP parameters can also be configured for the components being instances of an array. Besides, the CMP parameters can also be configured for solids built in the model.

To facilitate the Model's CMP calculation we recommend saving all its component files in KOMPAS-3D version 10 or later version.
