Spiral diameter |
Scroll |
There are following ways to specify the diameter of a cylindrical spiral (or the initial diameter for the conical spiral) in the Spiral section on the Parameter Panel:
•Enter the diameter value in the field Diameter (Diameter 1).
•Click in the Diameter by object field and specify in the graphic region the object that defines the diameter of the spiral — a point or a circle/arc.
•If a specified point (vertex, origin, point in sketch, etc.) is given, then the diameter is taken as twice the distance from the reference point of the spiral to the projection of the specified point onto the reference plane of the spiral (i.e., the projection of the point determines the radius of the spiral).
•If an edge, a curve in a sketch or a spatial curve shaped as a circle or its arc is specified, then the diameter equals to the diameter of the selected circle/arc.
The object name is displayed in the field Diameter by object, and the computed diameter value is displayed in the Diameter (Diameter 1) field.

If a circle/arc is specified to determine the position of the spiral, then it automatically also becomes the object that determines the diameter of this spiral. If necessary, you can replace the object defining the diameter or specify the diameter by number. |
