When the projection type By normal to surface
is selected, the base curve is projected by the normal to the specified surface.
When selecting the type Direction
, the projection of the base curve can be constructed in the direction specified by an object or vector.
You can use any straight-line or planar object as a guiding object. Straight-line and planar objects are listed in table Model object types.
The direction given by the rectilinear object is a straight line parallel to the object.
The direction given by a flat object is a straight line, perpendicular to the object.
To construct a vector, click Construct Vector
button to the right of the field Direction on the Parameter Panel. Vector vector construction.
The name of the selected object is displayed in the Direction field. If the directions is set using a vector, the word "Vector" is displayed in this field.
You can see the example of plotting a projection of a sketch line (base curve) onto a cylindrical surface for different projection types on the picture.

Example of plotting a projection of a sketch line to a cylindrical surface:
a) projection of the sketch line by normal to surface;
b) projection of the sketch line by direction (perpendicular to the sketch plane)
