Transition to editing a model |

If the main component of KOMPAS-3D – a system for 3D Modelling – is installed at your workplace, and the dongle key has a license for its use, then while working with a drawing you can quickly open a document containing a three-dimensional model depicted in this drawing. The Edit in window 
command is used for this purpose, which can be invoked in the following ways:
•in Document tree — expand the branch conforming to any view containing the image of the model, select the model line and invoke the command from the context menu or the contextual panel,
•in the graphic area — select a geometry object belonging to the model, and call the command from the context menu or the context toolbar.
If you are working with an assembly drawing, you can invoke the Edit in Window command for the assembly itself and for any of its components.
In a large assembly some components may be replaced with mockups. In this case from the associative drawing you can open:
•the mockup source model — using the Edit mockup in window 
command,
•the original component source model — using the Edit component in window command.
These commands are invoked in the same way as Edit in Window.
After running any of the editing commands in KOMPAS-3D, a tab containing the selected three-dimensional model will open.

If the command was executed in the graphic area of the assembly drawing, the system will open the model (component or assembly) containing the three-dimensional object whose projection was selected. |
Make the required changes in the model, save and close the model, or switch to the drawing tab.
On return to the drawing containing the image of the edited model, a request to re-build the drawing will appear. Clicking Yes triggers re-building of the image in the drawing in view of the changes made to the model. If it is required to postpone re-building of the drawing, click nan.

Re-building the drawing of the model comprising a great number of parts and subassemblies may take a considerable amount of time. So, if it is required to edit multiple components of such model, it is recommended to rebuild its drawing only once – after making the last change (and not every time after editing a specific component). |
