Selecting surfaces to keep

Scroll

If the surface construction process involves specifying non-coherent faces or curves composed of several contours as the base object, the construction result may produce several separate surfaces. In this case, after confirming the operation, the process Changing a set of surfaces is automatically launched, allowing you to select the surfaces to keep in the model.

After starting this process the Parameter Panel displays a switch Leave all.

If the toggle switch is in I position (enabled), all surfaces resulting from the operation will remain in the model. They are displayed in the graphic area as phantoms.

If the toggle switch is in position 0 (disabled), the Parameters toolbar will contain the field "Leave surfaces" with a list of the created surfaces.
To delete a surface, click on the icon in the row of this surface in the list or select the row and click the Delete button to the right of the field. You can also remove a surface by clicking it in the graphic area. Click a surface in the graphic area again to include it in the list of parts being kept.

After selecting surfaces, click Create Object . If no surfaces are kept, the button is unavailable.

In the Design Tree, an operation that results in multiple surfaces is no different from an operation that creates a single surface. You can view which operation created a particular surface by expanding the Surfaces section in the Design Tree. Structural Representation Design Trees.

The excluded surfaces seem to be missing in the model: they are not displayed in the graphics area, cannot be used in the construction of other objects, are not transferred to the associative model views and to the resulting files when exporting to other formats, etc.

However, information about them is not removed from the model file, due to which the set of surfaces can be changed later.

A process to change surfaces set is also started in the following cases:

After editing the surface building operation, the result of which is several surfaces (unless the parameters of the operation have been changed so that a single surface is obtained),

After calling the command Change Surface Set from the operation's context menu, the result of which is several surfaces .
