Isolation of links of copied objects of arbitrary array objects |
Scroll |
In some cases when building array of arbitrary objects it is impossible or complicated to specify source objects of the copied object. For array instances to be built correctly, links of the copied object to its source objects should be broken first. To do this, the isolation of object relationships is used. After performing link isolation, a Copy object is created, which must be specified together with the object being copied when creating an array. Links of the object to its source objects are replaced with links to objects of the created copy.
To isolate the object links, select this object in the Design Tree and call the Edit — Isolate Links command (the command is not available for solids or surfaces).
|
When you specify objects for isolation of links, it is advised to enable display a sequence of plotting the model. When using such display option, links of multiple objects can be isolated simultaneously provided that they are located sequentially in the Tree. To do this, before invoking the command select required objects using <Shift> or <Ctrl> key. |
Result of the object links isolation
After calling the link isolation command, the Copy
object appears in the model, containing copies of the source geometrical objects of the object whose links are isolated. These copies represent geometric objects with no history. They are associated with the original objects.
The copy is created in the absolute coordinate system and located in the model Design Tree before the object whose links are isolated (with the model construction sequence display enabled). Objects contained in the copy are displayed in the graphic area of the model. If required, you may turn off displaying of objects of the copy.
Copy includes sketches, curves in the sketch, planes, faces, vertices, and edges (depending on the set of source objects). For example, a surface is obtained by rotating circle arc around the edge of a bump element. When isolating links of the rotation surface, a copy is created containing a circular arc (rotation section) and an edge (rotation axis). The bumping operation to which this edge belongs is not included into the copy.
As the result of isolation, links of the selected object to its source objects are replaced with links to objects of the created copy.
Limitations of object links isolation
Object links isolation cannot be performed in the following cases.
•When source objects of the object whose links are isolated are only:
•coordinate system,
•objects that are not contained in the model Design Tree (for example, when point coordinates from a file are used to build a surface).
•If arrays, cosmetic threads or certain operations such as Chamfer, Fillet, Slope, Rib, Shell, Section, Boolean Operation, Change Position, Subtract Components, Copy, Scale, Cut, and Sheet Solid operations are selected to isolate links.
In such cases after calling the command a message Selected objects have no replaceable links appears.
