Adding Constraints |
Scroll |
The configuration of the parametric mode usage of the KOMPAS-3D system for model sketches is performed in the Associativity and Constraints dialog, which is called by the command Setup - Options.... — Current part/assembly — Sketch — Parametrization.
A similar dialog is used for associativity and constraints while working with graphic documents.

Description of setting |
|
Associate at entry of |
The list contains the names of object types. Enable the options near the names of object types which should be created as associative (related to other objects) on their designing. With the associativity of dimensions enabled, the associative diametrical, radial, and angular dimensions will be labeled only to those curves with which the associativity can be implemented. Labeling of associative dimensions to arcs and segments in a contour or in a macro-element, to the sides of rectangles and polygons is impossible (when working in a graphic document). |
|
Parameterize |
The list contains names of relationship types between objects. Enable the options near the names of types of relationships among the objects which should be automatically parametrized on entry and editing the image. |
|
All |
The option allows you to enable/disable the association of all objects contained in the list Associate on input. A similar option allows to enable/disable parametrization of all types of relationships contained in the Parameterize list. The option may be in one of three states: •enabled •undefined •disabled If the status of the option is not defined, a click on the option will disable it, a second click will enable it. |
|
Fix dimensions |
Enabling the option means that associative dimensions during creation will be automatically fixed and related to a variable (control dimensions). With the option disabled, associative dimensions created as informational and without variables. More details on controlling and informational dimensions... The option is available if in the Associate at entry of: group the Dimensions option is enabled. |
|
Fix the length of the axle axle |
Enabling the option means that upon the auto-axial – in case if at least one its point will remain free from constraints – the fixed length constraint will be imposed additionally. If the option is disabled, the constraint is not applied. More details on automatically applied constraints to the autoselection... |
|
Prohibit All |
The option allows to enable and disable the parametric mode in a document. When working in the model, this setting extends to all sketches — both existing and future. •If the option is disabled, the parametric mode is enabled and in this dialog options of its setup are available. •If the option is enabled, the parametric mode is disabled and the options of its setup are unavailable. Enabling/disabling the parametric mode does not change its setting. Enabling/disabling parametric mode is also possible using the Parametric Mode button on the Quick Access Bar. |
|
Constraints |
The option allows to enable and disable the Constraint view mode in a document. The option is enabled by default in the model, and disabled in the graphic document. Enabling/Disabling the constraint display mode is also possible using the Display constraints button in the Quick Access Toolbar. |
|
Degrees of freedom |
The option allows to enable and disable the Displaying degrees of freedom in a document. By default, the option is disabled. Enabling/disabling the display of degrees of freedom is also possible using the Display Degrees of Freedom button on the Quick Access Toolbar. |
|
Enabling the parametric mode does not make sense if all the options in the groups Associate on input and Parameterize are disabled. Constraints in this case will not be applied, i.e. designs will be performed as if the parametric mode were disabled. |
On completion of the set-up, press the OKbutton. Click Cancel to discard all changes and close the dialog box.
Setting of the parametric mode is stored in the document itself and does not change upon its transfer to another workplace.
