Phantoms |
Scroll |
Phantom – an image that is temporarily displayed on the screen while running an operation and showing the current status of the created or edited objects. For example, if a straight line segment is created, then while awaiting input of its second point a phantom of future segment is displayed. On change of the cursor position, the phantom is dynamically rearranged, showing a new state of the segment being input.
Phantoms are also used to show various options of object design under the same basic data. For example, it is possible to draw two tangents to a circle through the same point. In this case, one of the phantoms is active – the created object will confirm just to it, while the other phantoms are non-active. Prior to creation of an object, the user can activate any of the phantoms. By default, the active phantom is displayed with a solid line, and non-active – with dots.
Setting up the appearance of phantoms displayed on the screen implies a setup of drawing the lines showing the shape and position of objects being created or edited prior to their fixing. This setting is performed in the Draw Phantom Linesdialog fetched with the Settings — Parameters... — System — Graphic Editor — Phantoms command.
