KOMPAS–3D takes into account work techniques used in the machine building design. The orientation of the system to generation of models of specific parts, containing typical design elements, simplifies performing of some characteristic operations. They include, for example, operations to create a chamfer, an edge etc.
To simplify setting of parameters of these elements, its creation is allocated to separate commands. So, to construct a chamfer you don’t need to draw a sketch, to move it along the edge and to subtract the resulting volume from the main solid. It is enough to specify the edges to construct a chamfer and to enter its parameters – the value of legs or the value of a leg and an angle.
Editing operations apply both to solids constructed in the model itself and to solids constructed in components.
