Saving to format of previous versions KOMPAS-3D |
Scroll |
In new versions of KOMPAS-3D, new object types and new ways of building objects appear, and the internal structure of the objects is different. Hence, saving a document to a previous version of KOMPAS-3D may be limited or, in some cases, impossible.
Graphic documents
Writing of graphic documents to the previous version format is always possible.
If the version selected for writing does not support any graphic objects contained in the document, those objects are replaced with others supported by the selected version. In this case, a the dialog, in which replacement objects and replacing objects are displayed as a table. If there are multiple replacing objects for some object, the user can choose between them.
When writing a document to KOMPAS 5.11 R03 format, some objects and some non-graphic information are lost. For example, the following:
•properties of the document, macro-elements, fragment insertions and views;
•clearing the background;
•order of object rendering;
•BOMs of different styles on the drawing sheet;
•References and hyperlinks;
•constraints imposed on the view arrows and cut lines;
•restrictions not found in KOMPAS 5.11 R03;
•defining points of macro-elements.

Embedded BOM layouts and styles when writing to the KOMPAS 5.11 R03 format are replaced by references to the libraries containing them *.lyt. |
Models
Unlike a graphic document, a model not always can be written to the previous version format.
If a model cannot be written to the format of the selected version, a message about that appears on the screen.
There is a possibility when one or multiple objects of the model can be written only without construction history. In this case, a message "Cannot save with construction history" appears on the screen. Saving without construction history."
When saving without history, the appearance and the properties of the model remain intact, but instead of the original object, the Design tree will display the corresponding objects (operations, surfaces or curves) without history.
Sketches are saved when the model is written to the previous version format (including writing without history). If there are objects in the sketch not supported by the version of KOMPAS-3D being written, they are replaced with other supported objects. In this case, the same the dialog, as with replacing unsupported objects during saving of a graphic document.
When you save some model objects to a previous version, links and/or reference objects may be lost.
