Instances in the model family |
Scroll |
Files of instances are created during their generation, initiated by the command. Model family while working with a family template.
A feature of these instances is that they are only available for reading, since their configuration and properties are defined by the family template and family table.
Like any other model available only for reading, the instance can be opened in KOMPAS-3D, but it is impossible to save changes in it. An instance can be inserted into an assembly as a component, assembly operations can be applied to it, and its elements (faces, edges, vertices) can be used for placing mates and constructing other objects. You cannot edit an instance in the context of its containing assembly.
If you need to break the link between the instance and the template and table, save the instance under a different name (or rename the instance file in Windows Explorer). After that, this instance will be available for editing.
Deletion/renaming of the family template file will not affect the instances: they remain in the same folder and do not become available for editing.
