Mechanical connection mating objects

Scroll

Pairs of objects are usually composed of components, and one of them can be fixed. In addition, you can mate a component with another model object.

When specifying certain elements, along with the object they belong to, the axis or path of movement is automatically determined. Its name appears in the corresponding field (Axis, Path) on the Parameter Panel.

For example, to select a part to be mated, its edge was specified. In the Component field, the name of the part appears, and in the Path field, the name of the specified edge appears. The amount of movement along the path is not limited by the length of the specified object.

To select an existing object as the axis or the path, click in the Axis or Path field on the Parameter Panel and specify the desired object in the Design Tree or in the graphic area. The name of the selected object will appear in the field of the same name.

The following objects can be selected as rotation axes and movement paths.

Straight (segments of broken lines, coordinate and auxiliary axes, straight edges).

An axis or a path is a straight line that coincides with the object.

Flat curves (arcs, edges in the form of circles).

An axis or a trajectory is a straight line going through the center of the specified object perpendicular to its plane.

Revolution surface faces (cylindrical, conical, toroidal).

The axis or the path is the axis of rotation.

After determining the axis or the path, the system automatically sets the direction of movement of objects in the gear. In the graphics area, the direction of rotation is indicated by circular arrows, and the direction of movement by a straight line.

Only the relative direction of movement of the mating objects is important – when viewing the gear work, the object can be moved using the mouse both in forward and in reverse direction. At the same time, the directions of movement of objects either coincide with those specified during creation, or both are opposite to them.

For example, in order for the gear wheels to rotate towards each other, objects should be given opposite directions.
