After calling one of the commands adding a component from file a dialog box appears on the screen for selecting the source file for insertion — standard file open dialog or dialog Select dialog component selection.

Specify the required model file in the dialog box.

Additional features:

•If the selected model contains model versions, then the list is displayed in the dialog box Version. By default, the version selected in the list is the current one in the model file. Specify the required version in the list. The geometry and properties of the component will correspond to the selected version.

•If additional version numbers have been created in the selected model, the dialog also contains a list of Additional number. By default, an empty row is selected in the list. This means that no additional numbers are selected. To select the desired number, activate its row.

•If necessary, you can select several models for insertion at once. To do this, specify the desired models in the dialog box while holding down the <Shift> or <Ctrl> key. In this case, the selection of versions and additional numbers in the dialog box is not available. You can select the desired versions/additional numbers later when working with the list of models in the Parameters panel. More about adding multiple components...

To complete the model selection, click the Open button (or Select if the model is being chosen in the Select a component source file dialog).

Specifics of selecting a model for local insertion

If during insertion of a local part in the file selection dialog you specify an assembly, which in its turn contains local parts, then after completing the file selection, the Select local part dialog appears on the screen. It allows you to insert not the entire assembly, but one of its local parts into the current model.

To insert a local part from the assembly into the model, select it in this dialog and click Select.

To insert the entire assembly into the model, click Cancel in the dialog.
