In KOMPAS-3D, a standard metric measurement system is used.

The default length unit is a millimeter.

These units are used to set and display linear parameters (e. g. segment length, circle radius, sweep value) on the Parameter Toolbar, values in dimension texts of linear dimensions, cursor coordinates, etc.

For graphic documents, you can set a different measurement unit of length – a centimeter or a meter (see section Measurement Units).

The default angular unit is a degree.

These units set and display angular parameters (e. g. aperture angle or rotation angle of an object copy) on the Parameter Panel. For fields of the Parameter Toolbar, you can set other angular units – degrees, minutes and seconds, or radians (see section Number representation).

By default, values in dimension texts of angular dimensions are displayed in degrees. You can set a different method of display: in degrees and minutes, or in degrees, minutes and seconds (see section General settings).

When calculating mass-centering properties, you can manage the output results by selecting the required units directly during the measurement process (kilograms or grams for the mass; millimeters, centimeters, decimeters and meters for the length).

When drafting in KOMPAS-3D the user always operates with the actual dimensions of objects (in a 1:1 scale), and the placement of the image on the drawing of the required format is performed by selecting the appropriate view scale (see section Views – a tool for defining detailing of a drawing).
