Current document - drawing or fragment

Scroll

The general parameters (Tree name, font, length units and some others) of the current drawing/fragment are set in the Current document section of the settings dialog box..

To access the section, call the command Settings — Parameters... and in the dialog box that appears, select Current document.

Element

Setting description

Name format in the document tree

A group of controls that allows you to set the list of properties and their order in the document name displayed in the Tree.

The customization applies to the root element of the Tree, insertions of fragments and macro elements, including library elements, in the drawing tree also to insertions of views from other drawings, and in the associative drawing tree also to the projected model and its first-level objects.

Property table

A tabular list of properties which values are available for display in the object name. By default, the values of the Designation and Name properties are available for display in the name.

If you want to change the set of properties, click the Change list button. , button above the table.  A dialog box appears on the screen  where you can add properties (including library properties) to the list or remove them from it.

The order of properties in the list determines their position in the object name, i.e. the property at the top of the list occupies the leftmost position in the object name, etc. To move the rows in the table, use the buttons above it and .

The first column of the table contains options that include the corresponding properties in the object name. The option in the column header allows you to include all listed properties in the object name or exclude all properties from the name. It can be in one of three states:

enabled  — all options in the list are enabled (name contains the values of all properties present in the list),

undefined  — the list contains both enabled and disabled options (property values with enabled options are shown in the name, while those with disabled options are not shown).),

disabled  — all options in the list are disabled (name does not contain property values from the list).

If the state of an option is not defined, clicking on the option will disable it, the next click will enable it.

In the second column of the table, you can enter a prefix for each property — an arbitrary sequence of characters that will be added to the object name before the value of the corresponding property.

The third column of the table displays the names of the properties.

If no property values included in the name are set for an object, the name of the document type (e.g. drawing, part, etc.) or the name of the object (e.g. body) is displayed as the name of this object. The same name is shown in the Tree if all options in the Properties list are disabled.

Default font

A list for selecting the default font to be used for text and tables in the document.

When you change the setting, the document objects are automatically rebuilt. If a custom font was selected for an object when creating or editing it, changing the default font in the setup dialog box has no effect on it.

Preview

The field is used to display a sample of the selected font.

Length units

A list for selecting the unit of length in the current graphic document: millimeters, centimeters, or meters. The selected unit will be used to display command parameters (e.g. length or radius), coordinates, cursor step, automatically generated nominals and dimensional deviations.

The length units setting does not apply to the Variables panel. All linear values (e.g., linear dimensions) displayed in this panel are converted to millimeters; all values entered to calculate such quantities are considered to be set in millimeters.

Decimal separator

List for selecting a decimal separator, a character that will be used to separate the integer part from the fractional part in values displayed in decimal format. The decimal separator can be a comma or a period. The setting applies to:

displaying values, including deviations and limits in decimal dimensioning captions,

displaying references to property values in captions, BOMs, reports, and version tables..

The character entered as a decimal separator when manually entering/editing a value is replaced by the character according to the setting after the input is completed.

Layer grouping

A list for selecting the method of grouping layers in the current graphic document. The following methods are available:

Group layers — in the document will be available to create and use layer groups and layer filters.

Group layer properties — in the document will be available to create and use layer property groups.

Group layer properties and inherit the composition of the parent object — in the document will be available to create and use layer property groups with automatic inclusion of the parent object's layers in the layer property group. The parent object is the document, view or group where a new layer property group is created.
If you select this method, the creation of a property group is as follows:

if the parent object is a property group, all the layers of this group with their settings will be copied to the new group,

if the parent object is a view, the new group will contain all layers of this view and their properties,

if the parent object is a document (the root object of the Document tree), the new group will contain all layers of all types.

Changing the way of grouping in a document leads to irreversible changes of created groups and filters. For more details, see Basic principles of working with layer sets.

Improved text size calculation algorithm

The option includes the use of a more accurate calculation of character sizes in the current document.

When calculating using the improved algorithm, the size of symbols does not depend on the scaling set at Windows settings and the use of ClearType (the effect of these parameters on texts in KOMPAS documents is most noticeable in Windows, starting from version 10, and is expressed in the fact that the actual height of symbols does not correspond to the specified one).

The improved calculation algorithm was added in the express update of KOMPAS-3D 19.0.7. Therefore, enabling the option is available if the current document is created in any of the earlier versions of KOMPAS-3D and this setting has not yet been applied to it.

If the document is created in KOMPAS-3D with express update 19.0.7 or in a later version, the option in the dialog box is enabled and its disabling is impossible. The same state of the option appears after the algorithm is applied to the document. That is, if you enable the option and close the dialog using the button Apply and close, you cannot disable the option the next time you open the dialog.

As a result of the improved algorithm for calculating character sizes, the dimensions of texts in a document may increase. This may cause captions, particularly technical requirements in a drawing, to overlap neighboring objects. Width/height of tables may change or rows in cells may overlap (this depends on the cell format setting in the table). In a text document, the number of pages may increase,

So it is recommended to check the texts in the document after applying this setting to it. If it turns out that changing the size of texts is unacceptable and the use of the improved algorithm should be canceled, close the document without saving.

After completing the settings, click the dialog box Apply and close. To exit the dialog box without changing the settings, click Cancel.
