The Rotate component
command is used to rotate a component.
After the command is invoked, the cursor shape will change – it will turn into two arc-shaped arrows
. The component objects under the cursor are highlighted.
|
•The rotation of a component may be limited, for example, by the matings superimposed on it. In this case, the component objects can be highlighted, but rotation is not performed. •When rotating a component with the Simplified load mode, objects under the cursor are not highlighted. Rotation is performed as usual, and the loading type is switched to Full. More information about load types... •Fixed components cannot be rotated. Their objects are not highlighted when you move the cursor. To fix components, see the section Component fixation. |
The following ways to rotate the component are available:
•a simple twist,
•rotation with the application of additional conditions: around a given center or axis; with overlapping or collision control.
The methods can be combined during the execution of the command.
Method 1. A simple twist
1.Place the cursor on the component you want to rotate. The edge, edge, or vertex of the component that is under the cursor is highlighted.
2.Press the left mouse button and, holding it, move the cursor. The component will rotate around the center point of its bounding box if fixing and overlaid matings do not hinder.
3.To complete operation of the command, click Finish
.
Method 2. Rotation with the use of additional conditions
1.Determine the center or axis of rotation of the component.
By default, the component rotates around the center point of its bounding box.
To rotate the component around a particular point or rectilinear object, click the mouse in the field Center/rotation axis on the Parameters panel. Then specify the object that will be the center or axis of rotation. The name of the selected object is displayed in the field.
After clicking in the field Center/rotation axis, the system waits for specification of an object. In this case, elements of the Parameter panel are not available, and selection of the component for rotation is not possible.
If you need to cancel selecting the center/rotation axis, click the field Center/rotation axis again or press the Stop selection
button to the right of this field. The system will return to the rotation mode.
2.Select the component rotation mode by clicking the required button in the Modes group:
Simple rotation — rotation without additional actions,
Auto matings — rotation with automatic application of mates,
Collision Detection — rotation with component collision detection.

3.Place the cursor on the component you want to rotate. A face, edge, or vertex of the component that is under the cursor is highlighted.
4.Press the left mouse button and, holding it, move the cursor. The component will rotate around the specified center or axis if fixation and overlaid matings do not hinder it.
5.To complete operation of the command, click Finish
.
