Building a pipe element |
Scroll |
To add a pipe element to the model (cut it out of the model), call the appropriate command, set the building parameters, check the correctness of the specified values using a phantom and complete the operation.
Commands to build a pipe element
To build a pipe element, the following commands are used: Pipe element
and Cut with a pipe element
.
Operation result
The result of the operation can be the union/cut/intersection of the element with the existing body, as well as the creation of a new body. To select the required option, use the group of buttons Result on Parameter panel.
Variants Merging and New solid allow to add material to model, and variants Subtraction and Intersection — delete material from a model.

Path
Specify the path for building the element. The path can be a 3D curve, a sketch line, an edge, or a chain of these objects in any combination. The path can be closed or open.

Diameter
Specify the pipe diameter using one of the following methods.
•Enter the diameter value in the field Diameter 1.
•Click the mouse in the Diameter by object field and select an edge, a curve in the sketch, or a 3D curve in the form of a circle/circle arc in the graphic area. The diameter of the created element will be equal to the diameter of the selected circle/arc. The object name will appear in the Diameter by object field, and the calculated value will be displayed in the Diameter 1 field.
Wall thickness
Set the pipe wall thickness using a group of elements Thickness determination.

Operation application area
The scope of an operation is a set of objects that should be transformed as a result of the operation. Specifying the scope is required if the model contains several solids or components.
The elements for controlling the scope of an operation are contained in the section Application area. This section is present on the Parameter panel for any operation result, except for creating a new solid.
The application area of the operation may include Solids
, Components
or Components and solids
. To select the required option, use the Groups of objects button group.
The operation can be applied to all objects in the selected group or to some of them. To select objects which intersection will be taken into account during building, use Objects button group..

Pipe element properties
If necessary, you can specify the name of the pipe element and the display properties of its surface using the controls located in the Properties section of the Parameter panel.

Completing operation
To complete the building of the pipe element, click the button Create object
.
After performing the specified actions, a new solid, a glued or cut element (depending on the selected operation result) appears in the graphic area. The building tree displays the operation of building a pipe element with one of the following icons:
glued element/new solid,
cut out element.
To complete the command, click the button Finish
.
•The diameter and wall thickness values can be changed in the graphic area of the model using defining points.
•To set numeric parameters, you can use commands of geometrical calculator.
•You can assign tolerances to the values of operation parameters expressed in linear quantities. To do this, call the tolerance command located in the menu of the required parameter, or click the icon
, displayed in the parameter field (the icon is displayed if a tolerance is assigned to the parameter value) Details about assigning tolerance...
