Editing an array and its elements |
Scroll |
You can edit the array itself by initiating the editing process, or you can modify its individual objects.
Modifying an array when the editing process starts
To start the array editing process, do one of the following:
•Select any array object in the graphics area and execute the command Edit array
from the context menu,
•Select the Array — Edit command from the context menu of an array instance in the graphics area (if the object is only the source instance in multiple arrays, the Array context menu will not appear for it),
•(not available when working in Sketch mode) select the Edit command from the context menu of the array in the Document Tree,
•(not available in Sketch mode) double-click the array name in the Document Tree.
During editing, you can replace the original objects or add new ones, change grid settings, enable or disable dimension creation, and delete or restore instances.
After making all necessary changes, complete the array editing process by clicking the Create Object button
.
You can also change the grid settings using array variables.
Modifying array elements
The objects that make up the array instances can be modified: you can control their shape and dimensions by moving control points, adjust their properties using the Properties panel, change their style and layer, and apply various editing commands to them. Any array object can serve as a source object in other arrays. Restrictions can be applied to array objects.
When editing objects that are part of an array, keep the following in mind.
Changes to an object’s dimensions and/or position when its parameters are modified are propagated to the other objects in the array.
If an array object is edited using the copy operation, changes its position, rotation, symmetry, or scale with the option enabled Deleting source objects, the source object itself is not deleted. It remains part of the array, and any changes to its position or size are propagated to the other objects in the array.
Modifying objects (line segments, circles, ellipses, and arcs of circles and ellipses) using the trimming and splitting operations has the following characteristics.
•trimmimg:
•Changes to the original object are propagated to the copy objects,
•changes to a copy are not propagated to other objects in the array; the modified object remains in the array,
•splitting:
•changes to the original object are propagated to the copy objects; one of the parts of the original object remains in the array,
•changes to a copy object are not propagated to other objects in the array; one of the parts of the modified object remains in the array.
A copy object is removed from the array in the following cases:
•if an object is edited using the Convert to Spline operation with the Delete original objects option enabled,
•if a splitting or trimming operation has been applied to an object (rectangle, regular polygon, slot, or projection curve),
•if the Explode command is applied to an object (rectangle, regular polygon, slot, or projection curve),
•if the clear Area command has been applied to the object.
Objects removed from the array can be restored.
