The reference plane of the midline

Scroll

To construct a centerline, you must specify a reference plane—a flat object on which the curve will lie.

The base plane can be defined in the following ways.

•Automatically

The base plane of the centerline is determined automatically if the object defining the source curve is a sketch curve or an edge belonging to a flat face. In the first case, the sketch plane is used; in the second, the flat face to which the edge belongs.

The name of the automatically selected plane is displayed in the Base Plane field on the Parameter Panel. If necessary, you can change it. To do this, delete the plane name by clicking the iconin the Base Plane field. Then specify the desired object using the method described below.

•Specifying an existing object

Any plane or flat face existing in the model can be used as the base plane.

To select a base plane, specify the desired object in the Construction Tree or in the graphics area. The name of the selected object will appear in the Base Plane field.

•Creating an auxiliary plane at the desired position

To construct a plane, click the Build plane button to the right of the Base plane field. The plane construction subprocess will start. Select a construction method and specify the necessary parameters. Once the subprocess is complete, the created plane will automatically be selected as the base plane.
