The presence of a grid on the screen does not necessarily mean that the cursor is snapping to its points. Enabling the required snap option is performed separately.
The reverse statement is fair as well: the grid image in the graphic area can be disabled, however,this does not interfere with grid snapping.
Global snap on the grid (as well as any other global snap) works only in the window in which it was set.
If constant snap on the grid is not necessary, disable the global snap on the grid.
In this case you can snap the cursor to a grid node having enabled the local snap.
