"External" and/or "Info" statuses can be assigned to variables.

Only the "Info" status can be assigned to variables of operation and dimension parameters. A user defined variable can be both of External and Info type.

If the "External" status is assigned to a user variable in the document, then this variable is available on insertion of the document into another (main) document. You can change the value of an external variable of insertion, use it for obtaining values of other variables of the main document.

If a user defined variable in the document is both External and Info, then when you insert the document into another document, this variable is available only for obtaining values of other variables. You cannot change the value of such a variable.
