Using variables in a document allows to change the parameters of objects without having to edit them.

In KOMPAS-3D documents, variables of the following types are used:

•User Variables are variables created by the user on the Parameter Panel. They are used for getting the values of other variables. You can create variables of a regular type as well as functional and interval variables.

•Operation Parameter Variables are variables created automatically in the process of setting numerical parameters of operations in a model. Values of these variables are values of parameters. These variables can be used to manage values of operation parameters.

•Dimension Variables are variables created by the user in the process of creating dimensions in graphic documents and sketches. Values of these variables are values of the dimensions. If a dimension for which a variable was created is a control dimension, then the variable can be used to control the value of the dimension. If a dimension is of info type, you cannot manage its value through a variable.

•Variables of Maximum Deviations are variables created by the user on the Parameter Panel intended for setting the values of maximum deviations of dimensions and parameters the values of which are expressed in linear or angular values. More details on maximum deviations of variables...

Besides, during work with a model, variables allowing to manage exclusion of objects from calculation are created automatically.

In the model, variables of "measurement" objects and variables of dimensions, i. e., of detailing elements set manually are also automatically created. In the first case, values of variables are results of measurement; in the second case, these are the values of dimensions for which they were created. These variables are used only for obtaining information.
