After abnormal termination of the system operation, recovery of documents from futosave files is performed automatically.

To achieve this, it is necessary to start the KOMPAS-3D system using any standard method, except double-clicking the file name in Windows Explorer, which was being edited or was open at the time of the emergency exit. The thing is that at the start-up by means of a mouse click on the file name no recovery of the document occurs. Instead, a file in which the document status on the moment of the last saving prior to the emergency exit is opened. Obviously, if a comparatively long period of autosave was set during setup, then the autosave file will most likely have more written changes than in the last version of document saved manually.

Once the system has been booted correctly, the search for autosave files in the folder specified for writing these files is performed. All the found files are used to recover their matching documents.

In heading of the tab of recovered document, a special icon is displayed. Besides, when hovering a mouse at the tab heading, not only a thumbnail view of the document with the path thereto it, but also the [recovered] text is displayed. These attributes are saved until the first editing of the document.

To write a recovered document onto the disk, invoke one of the saving commands:

File – Save – to write into the same file as was there before the abnormal exit from the system,

File — Save As... — to save to a new file (in this case, the autosave file from which the document was restored, is deleted).

If the system was started up by double-clicking the file which was being edited at the time of emergency shutdown (let's name it "file X"), the document ("document X") saved to this file will not be recovered: document X opens in the same state in which it was last saved to the disk. If other documents were open at the time of the crash in KOMPAS-3D, they will be restored. Deleted are all the autosave files except that which matches the document. This autosave file remains on the former place and is not changed at any operations with document X.

Thus, after the "wrong" start-up it is necessary to perform the following actions.

1.Save all recovered documents.

2.Close document X without saving.

3.Close the system.

4.Start up the system in an alternative way.

5.Save document X recovered from the autosave file which matches file X.
