An autosave file is generated automatically and contains the document with changes which were not saved. The file is created if changes are made to the document and if in the dialog for setting up autosave,Autosave Document Files is enabled. In the same dialog, the folder for saving and frequency of creation and updating of the autosave is specified.
The first autosave file can be created before the first saving a document, if the time before the first save exceeds the specified value during the setup for file creation/update. Further on, the autosave file is updated at a set frequency, i.e. after the next set period of time the contents of the autosave file are compared versus the current document. If changes are detected, then the autosave file is overwritten. If no changes occurred, the file remains the same.
During each document saving the autosave file is deleted. If changes are made again to the document, the file is re-created.
An autosave file has the extension which matches the document type; the last character of extension is replaced by the character $.
Abnormal termination of the system operation
On abnormal termination of the system operation the following occurs.
•If an autosave file was created, then it is saved used for recovery of the document. Keep in mind that the recovered document will contain only those changes which were made to the document at the time of the last update of the autosave file.
Recovery of documents from autosave files
•If there is no autosave file, then it is impossible to recover unsaved changes in the document. That may happen, for example, in case of abnormal termination of the system operation between the last saving of the document (when the autosave file is deleted) and creation of the new autosave file.
