It is available for shell rings based on closed sketches.

Offset defines the point position in the gap center relative to the start point of the sketch contour (for a ruled shell ring – in the sketch of the first base). The starting point of the contour is automatically defined by the system.

To select a method for setting the gap offset, use the Move group of buttons. The following options are available.

In % of the curve length — by the relative displacement from the starting point of the contour to the point at the center of the gap. A value of the sketch contour length is set in percentage in the % of the Curve Length field.

By segment length — by the length of the contour from its starting point to the point at the center of the gap. An absolute offset is set in length units in the Length field.

By central angle — by the central angle of the arc from the starting point of the contour to the point in the gap center. A value of the angle is set in the Angle field.

You can build an construction plane of the required position using the Shell Ring The option is available if the base contour is a circle.

You can build an construction plane of the required position using the Ruled Shell Ring The option is available if the circle serves as the contour of the first base.

Gap offset

a) in % of the curve length or by segment length; b) by central angle

In the process of design, you can switch between options. The offset value is recalculated and displayed in measurement units corresponding to the selected method.

Creation of the ruled shell ring is not possible in the following cases:

the gap is located on the bend which is automatically generated at the joints of the shell ring faces,

inside or at the border of the gap, there occurs a boundary point at which two of its sectors are mated (for example, a segment and an arc).

In these cases, a value of the gap offset parameter should be changed.
