Copying attributes between objects

Scroll

When you need to assign to an object an attribute of type that matches type of attribute already present in another object, you may copy this equivalent instead of creating a new attribute type from scratch.

You can copy attributes between objects within one document as well as between objects of different documents which are open in the same window of KOMPAS-3D. It is impossible to copy attributes between documents which are opened in different system windows.

To copy attributes between objects in KOMPAS-3D, a special buffer is used (different from the standard Windows clipboard). Pasted attribute value can subsequently be edited.

Copying attributes between drawing orders is performed in the following sequence.

1.Select the object containing an attribute to be copied.

2.Invoke the Management – Attributes... command. On the screen, there will appear the Dialog for Working with Attributes.

3.Select the name of attribute to be copied in the list, and click the Copy button. If you press the Cut button, the attribute will be copied to the clipboard and then deleted from the source object.

Clipboard may contain only one attribute at a time. When another attribute is copied or moved into clipboard, the attribute that was residing in clipboard before is deleted.

4.Close the attribute handling dialog.

5.Select the object to paste the copied attribute into.

6.Invoke the Management – Attributes... command.

7.In the dialog box that appears, press the Insert button.

The attribute which is stored in the clipboard will be assigned to the selected object.

If needed, edit the value of the pasted attribute.

Copying of attributes between documents is performed in a similar way.
