Some objects need to be selected and specified not only in the graphic area of the model but also in the Design Tree.

To specify or select an object in the Tree, click its name or icon.

To quickly move to the end or beginning of the Tree, use the <End> and <Home> keys, respectively.

Thus, you can select or specify a sketch, plane, axis, shape-forming or design element (a hole, chamfer, element created by a rotation operation, etc.), component, or mating.

When you specify or select any object in the Tree, the corresponding part of the model is highlighted or selected in the graphic area of the model.

If the mating is selected in the Tree, then the objects participating in this mating are highlighted in the graphic area.

To select several objects in the Design Tree, specify them while holding down the <Ctrl> key.

To select a group of objects in the Design Tree that are located consecutively, select the first (the last) of these objects, press and hold down the <Shift> key, then select the last (the first) object. All objects of the group will be selected.

After the object is selected using any method (including in the graphic area), the corresponding row in the Design Tree is highlighted. For example, when specifying an edge, the row of the operation that created this edge will change color, and when specifying a plane, the icon of this plane will change color.

After the object is selected using any of the methods, the corresponding icon in the Design Tree changes its color from gray to red. For example, when specifying a face, the icon of the operation that created this face will change color, when specifying a sketch, the icon of this sketch will change color.

Components in the Design Tree are displayed as icons. To the left of the icon there is a sign . It means that the list of objects comprising the component is collapsed. Thus, objects comprising the component may not be visible in the Tree even if they are selected in the graphic area.

To view in the Tree an object that was selected in the model graphic area, run the Show in Tree command from the context menu or from the context bar. After you run the command, the row of the corresponding component is highlighted and the Design Tree is expanded to show the row.

If you select an object belonging to a shape-generating element (for example, a face of an extrusion element) in the graphic area of the model, then after calling the Show in Tree command, the row of this shape-generating element will be highlighted in the Design Tree.
