A rib can be constructed parallel or perpendicular to the sketch plane. Choose a rib placement option by clicking the corresponding button in the Position group of the Parameter Panel, see the table.

The rib is parallel to the sketch plane. The rib shape is determined by the sketch line and the lines of intersection of the sketch plane with the faces of the solid. |

The rib is perpendicular to the sketch plane of the rib. The rib shape is determined by the sketch line and the lines of intersection of the sketch extrusion surface with the faces of the solid. |
